not bad for cash and carry.

they are nice bars and you didnt have to pay shipping/tax etc.

not a bad price but not a screaming deal.

i think it was fair for the dealer and the buyer.

Depends on how you look at it.

1-These bars can carry higher premiums b/c of their name.
2-You didn't pay shipping...
3-They are sealed- is it the original mint wrap?
4-JM no longer produces 10 oz'ers- Thus making them harder to find.

I'd say not bad!:congrats: 2 bars on APMEX right now will be 306 plus shipping.:ok:

Plus you are addicted (like me) and you got an instant fix, can't beat that

ok, thanks that makes me feel a little better. they guy i bought them from is your typical "used car salesman". i don't like going there but he has the goods. his forte is buying scrap gold so im sure you can surmise the personality type.

COOL... got "some" engelhards at the same price at the pawn, myself. sealed, no shipping, -no paper trail-, and cultivating a ftf sale relationship. cant get any better than that. well, maybe finding one in the parking lot on the way out....

Which ones? the hand pours? Those one of my favorites, can never find em' though. I could see APMEX charging a higher premium on them too.

Some line like "Many have been melted... No longer in production... Hard to find... ":36_1_25:
Have a pic for us:questionm:

not hand poured. 10 oz bar w/ eagle grasping flag and branch, ser# on bottom, engelhard stamped in middle and engelhard at an angle on the reverse. same size as sunshine mint bars. sealed in plastic. some toning. sorry, not computer proficient enough to post pics, otherwise have lots of other toys. hope the description helps with a visual.

Re: Bought some silver today.

I also droped by my local dealer ( looking for some 10 oz dragons) and he had a 30 oz bar from the 70's that he let me have for 1.25 over spot. I was floored when quoted that price becuse he is normaly 2.25 over. I guess it pays off being a good customer..426.00 for 30 oz is the best I have done lately....

You get a better premium if the packaging is still mint? There goes the silver is silver mantra....

Your statement: "his forte is buying scrap gold so im sure you can surmise the personality type."

(1) says something about you that's not complimentary, and

(2) nothing about the people you're talking about.

There are a whole lot of fine folks who buy scrap gold.
